Elina Aartola-Mäkelä appointed S-Bank’s Chief Risk Officer and member of Group Management Team

Elina Aartola-Mäkelä (M.Sc. (Tech.)) has been appointed S-Bank’s Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and member of the Group Management Team. She will take up her role on 8 May 2025. The appointment is subject to the condition that the Financial Supervisory Authority has no objections to it.
 
Elina Aartola-Mäkelä has many years of varied experience in financial risk management. She has most recently worked at Nordea Bank in Group Credit Risk Control and before that at Aktia Bank as Chief Risk Officer, Head of Risk & Compliance.

Petri Viertiö, the current Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at S-Bank, is leaving the S-Bank Group Management Team on his own initiative. Viertiö will leave S-Bank during the summer of 2025, and until then he will support the new CRO to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.

“I have had a long and interesting career in the dynamic financial sector. After our successful merger project, this is now a good time to take a breather and focus on board and advisory tasks,” says Viertiö.

“I would like to warmly thank Petri for his commitment and the significant contribution he has made to S-Bank’s risk management over six years,” says Laine-Tolonen.
